Read, listen, practise

Open any song for its letter notes, one phrase per line. Press Listen to hear it while the letters light up, then Practice: the sheet waits on each letter until you play it, on a computer keyboard or on the keys that open on screen.

Switch to Computer keys for the virtual piano layout, turn on Large print, or print the letters on their own.

Middle C is C4. The letter on a tile is the key to press; a dark tile is a black key (a sharp or flat).

Easy Kids Songs on Piano with Letters: FAQ

What is the best first piano song for a child?

Hot Cross Buns or Mary Had a Little Lamb: three notes, E D C, all under three fingers of the right hand. Then Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (C C G G A A G…).

Why are the letters in colour?

Each note name has its own colour, C red through B pink, the scheme used with classroom bells and boomwhackers. Colour stickers on the keys make the match even easier; you can switch the colours off on any song.

Can my child practise without a piano?

Yes. Press Practice on any song: the sheet waits on each letter until it is played, on a computer keyboard or on the keys that open on screen, including on a tablet.

How do I read piano letter notes?

Each letter is the white key with that name, and a dark tile is a black key. C is the white key just left of the two black keys. The top row is the right hand, the small row under it the left hand, and wider tiles are held longer.
