When using the Synthetic sound option, we aim to represent the original MIDI instruments as closely as possible. The Piano sound option will convert all parts to piano, which is perfect for piano sheet music or practice tracks.

Since all processing happens in your browser, the main limitation is your device's memory. Most modern devices can easily handle MIDI files up to 10MB in size, which covers virtually all standard MIDI files.

The usage rights of the converted audio files depend on the original MIDI file's license. If you own the rights to the MIDI file or have permission to use it commercially, you can use the converted audio files commercially as well.

How the MIDI-to-audio synthesis engine works
Audio Engine
The converter uses SoundFont technology (MusyngKite bank) for realistic instrument rendering and Tone.js PolySynth for clean synthetic sound. Audio is generated through the Web Audio API and captured via RecordRTC for high-quality stereo output at 44.1kHz sample rate.
MIDI Parsing
MIDI files are parsed using the @tonejs/midi library, which reads note events, velocities, durations, and timing from all tracks. Both Format 0 (single track) and Format 1 (multi-track) MIDI files are supported and mixed into a single audio output.
